Enjo: Cleaning Without Chemicals…Really?

Enjo (pronounced, Enyo) cleaning products have been taking the world by storm for some time now and they’ve finally arrived in Hong Kong! The claims of these products are quite remarkable. Clean your entire house or business without using one chemical. That’s right, the kitchen, bathroom, dishes, hard floors, etc… with only a bit of water.

With the abundance of cleaning products on the market nowadays, each claiming to be the best thing since sliced bread, it would be an understatement to say I was a little skeptical upon my initial introduction to this product and its many claims. I, as most, had numerous questions. “What about the bacteria? How could an entire establishment be cleaned without the use of any chemicals and still kill the bacteria? Don’t these products get dirty? How long would something like this last?” These were just a few of the questions I had. I will elaborate on my own experience later but first, I will explain a little more about the product.

Where did Enjo originate and how does it work?
These products are from Austria and are assembled with the highest of quality control standards. Basically, the Enjo fibres are the secret behind these powerful products. Enjo fibres consist of microscopically small fibre strands that reach into the smallest pores and tiniest crevices. The fibre traps and holds the dirt, dust, grease and bacteria which are removed quickly and efficiently from the surface that is being cleaned.

Where does this bacteria, dirt or grease go and how do you clean the Enjo product?
The bacteria from cleaning will be kept in the fibres! The way to clean the Enjo product after using, is to simply rinse it under some water, roll and squeeze (don’t ring) and lastly, hang to dry. In case it’s really dirty, just put it in the laundry (without softener or bleach). Again, just hang to dry (don’t tumble dry).

So how long do these products last?
Each Enjo product has a 2 year warranty but can generally last 3 or 4 years. These are very durable products that are made to last.

Do Enjo products live up to all they say they are?
Now this is the fun bit! After hearing all of this about the products and seeing the demonstration of them, I had the opportunity to try them out at my home. Because of time constraints over the past few months…or years, I haven’t been sticking to my really strict cleaning schedule at home, so Enjo had its work cut out for it to say the least.

First was the bathtub. I usually use some white cleaning powder with a little bleach and it takes some time to finish after scrubbing, rinsing all of the soap out of the sponge and finally, rinsing the tub clean. I hadn’t done this all in a while so I’d rather not go into details about what was starting to build up in there. Using the Enjo Bathroom Duocloth, it took me all of about 2 minutes to have my tub completely clean and looking brand new! My wife and I were definitely amazed.

For the sink, toilet and floors, it was the same, time efficient and easy process as the tub. Next were the dishes. “Now, surely this product won’t clean some really grimy, greasy pots after cooking,” I said. Shockingly, yet again, I found that by just some easy rubbing with some water, the pots were cleaned perfectly with not a sign of grease in them.

Even my trusty, favourite wine glass became victim to Enjo’s trial test. Though I’ve always cleaned this glass using dish soap, I have never been able to completely eliminate that red stain from the wine. Well, after a quick wipe down with the kitchen glove, it was totally cleaned with not a trace of stain in it.

My overall opinion about Enjo products is that they do exactly what they claim to do. By using these products, we save a lot of time from the conventional way of cleaning. We save money by not having to buy chemicals anymore and we save the earth, as well as our seriously damaged water sources, by not polluting them with our chemical filled water from cleaning.

Now, for you non-believers out there, let me assure you that since these products have been around for 20+ years, there are published, third party studies that prove Enjo eliminates around 6.5 times more dirt and bacteria than conventional cleaning using chemicals. One such study was conducted by Murdoch University in Perth, Australia.
