Hypnosis Success Story – truly amazing!

An Amazing Hypnosis Success Story By Cynde Gardner.

Most people think of hypnosis or hypnotherapy only for things such as smoking cessation or weight loss.  Hypnosis or hypnotherapy, however, can be used in so many different ways for improvement of your personal well-being.  Here is an example of my husband’s recent hypnosis experience.

This year for New Years’ he got a new knee (New Year…New Knee is our motto).  Because we knew this operation was scheduled, we began preparing him for his procedure with regular hypnosis practice.  He learned self-hypnosis and practiced daily.  We also did sessions to begin his healing before the procedure was even performed. By the time of his procedure, he was prepared, confident, relaxed, comfortable and downright excited.

Tuesday, January 3, 2012 – The big day for our hypnosis experiment

I drove so that he could enter self hypnosis as soon as we were in the car and remain in it from that point on.  At the hospital, the intake nurse was amazed at how calm he was and how steady his vitals were; especially since he was facing such a big procedure.  Throughout the prep time his vitals remained steady.  While they placed the femoral catheter, he remained deeply in hypnosis and his heart rate varied only a few points.  When the nurse was done, she asked if I did hypnosis on a regular basis.  She was very pleased at how he remained very relaxed and calm and comfortable during the procedure.  I later found out that she had even mentioned the hypnosis to the surgeon.

The surgery went perfectly.  Within minutes of being moved to his room, the physical therapist came in and had him on the CPM machine to keep his knee moving.  The therapist was amazed that she could set it for 90 degrees of flexion his very first time on the machine.  More self hypnosis for flexibility and healing.

Later that afternoon, the nurse checked the amount of blood being collected from his knee.  She mentioned that if enough blood were lost, a transfusion would be needed.  Well, we didn’t want that, so more hypnosis with specific instructions for the unconscious mind to find any blood vessels that were leaking and turn them off.  The nurse came back a little later to check the collected level and was amazed to see that the bleeding had stopped completely.  No transfusion.

Eric’s blood pressure normally runs a little low, but his 98/53 level in the hospital was creating concern for the nurses.  I hypnotized him and gave suggestions that he maintain his pressure at a level that would make them more comfortable.  The nurse came back and took it again after we finished and it was 121/70.  One more amazed nurse.

Saturday, the home-care physical therapist came to evaluate him and start him on a new series of exercises (homework).  The therapist was impressed at the range of motion Eric had in his leg and that he was capable of doing all of the exercises the therapist gave him. Today, we will be going outside (in between football games) for some walks in the sunshine.

Make no mistake.  We were very selective with the surgeon we chose.  He has a great reputation for getting his patients back on their feet very quickly.  The surgeon’s skill was obviously a major factor in Eric’s wonderful recovery.  However, the surgeon’s skill does not impact the vital signs of the patient before entering the hospital, during the placement of catheters, the ability of the patient to turn off leaky blood vessels on command after the procedure is complete, or the ability of the individual patient to regulate his own blood pressure on command.  This is where hypnosis does such a great job of complimenting the medical field.

Every reaction in your body begins in your mind. Your mind controls your body completely. You control your mind. Therefore, you CAN control your body! Hypnosis is the tool. Whether you use self hypnosis or a hypnosis professional, use hypnosis!
